Hi there! I am Sierra, and growing Wise Girls, kids, and parents is my passion.

At Wise Girl Workshops, we offer what all parents need most in today’s challenging times for their daughters:

  • Growing self esteem and confidence
  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Creating a positive body image
  • Learning strategies to solve problems
  • Understanding technology’s impact
  • Developing healthy coping skills
  • Finding joy in movement
  • Enjoying nutrition for life
  • Developing a solid group of peers who truly like you for who you are.

What started out as a desire to connect and support girls in Sierra’s private therapy practice has now developed into a multi-faceted wellness and empowerment program for ALL girls, kids, and parents. Our workshops are for those in grades 3rd-12th grades and their parents. In our workshops (which are not therapy), we focus on developing life skills and tools. In particular, these skills and tools address the mind, body, and sweet spirits of youth and parents.

Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher, Youth Exercise Specialist, and Health Coach, Tina Parrish, NASM, Y-200 teams up with Sierra for many of our workshops. One of Tina’s goals is to empower girls to live well through nutrition and movement. She instills the value that movement is for everyone. In addition, Tina emphasizes that moving our bodies in ways we enjoy helps us to live well. Tina also helps youth embrace nutrition by thinking holistically. She doesn’t preach weight loss or calorie counting. Instead, Tina introduces girls to a variety of foods to expand their minds to the benefits of eating well.

Combining Sierra’s Master’s Degree in Social Work and over 23 years of experience empowering girls and parents with Tina’s 20 years of fitness and nutrition expertise, we’ve got a powerhouse of a program. Additionally, as mothers and educators in the world of mental health, fitness, and wellness, we know what it takes to create Wise Girls.

Our Newest Facilitator–Meet Margaret

Hi! I’m Margaret and I’m so excited to meet you! I am originally from San Antonio, TX and moved to Washington, DC in 2007 for my undergraduate studies. I was a studio art major and to this day, I still enjoy incorporating art into everything I do. When I moved to Southern California in 2014 for graduate school, I instantly knew California would become my new home. My experience with working with children includes my 8 years as a K-6th School Counselor and over 12 years as a nanny. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Wise Girl Workshops. I believe that peer support in a group setting promotes self awareness, builds community and belonging and helps normalize feelings and experiences. It is becoming a lot more challenging for children and teens to navigate friendships, express themselves in a healthy way and handle school and outside of school challenges in a very social media influenced world. Wise Girl Workshop focuses on 8 core foundations that encourage healthy coping skills and stress reducing activities that will help build resiliency and boost self esteem, all while building lasting connections among group members! It is an impactful program that I am very excited to be a part of! In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, Jello and Mela, playing board games, trying out new baking recipes and exploring Sonoma County.
