Hi Parents! Today I want to offer you some simple self care tips for teen and tween girls. First off, let’s start off my reflecting on your daughter’s mental wellness right now? How is she doing? I ask because Generation Z has been hard hit this last year, and for many mental health is suffering.
One thing I love about the times we are living in is it’s ok to talk mental wellness and health. For example, World Teen Mental Wellness Day was March 2, 2021. This is an awesome day, as it was started to remind teens that it’s ok to not be ok. And it’s just as important as ever for teens and tweens to take really good care of themselves. Self care is about paying attention to what one’s mind and body are needing.

? Getting your homework done so you can have a peaceful night

? Taking a digital break
☀️ Getting some sunshine
? Having a whole meal
??♀️ Moving your body
?? Spending time with your family (grandparents included)
??♀️. Deep breathing
? Talking with your friends
? Going to bed earlier than usual
There are so many ways teens and tweens can care for their mental wellness. As parents, role modeling self care is essential.
Today would be a great day to let your daughter know about “World Teen Mental Wellness Day.” The fact it exists good be a good meal time conversation. You might get an eye roll but if you can slide a $3 face mask or a small Starbucks gift card (to encourage self care) across the table it might disarm her enough to open up some conversation. If not, share a few words about self care and move on. Lectures aren’t self care and can deteriorate your daughter’s mental health. I know parenting is tricky, but don’t give up. She needs you!
